Victims and Justice
Services Available to Victims of Crime: A Fiji Survey (2008)
Prepared by Vanisha Mishra for the Australia/Fiji Community Justice Program
The purpose of this research was to identify and describe service providers in Fiji that provide services to victims of crime. To identify the nature of the relationship between victims of crime and the various justice sectors (police, prosecutions and courts).
This report highlights where victims of crime go to for help and the nature of the help they receive.
This research did not look specifically at children but the stories of the manner in which youth/children are treated by the justice system does warrant further research. I am now in the process of developing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials to inform children (police, prosecutors and the courts) of the rights of children at the different stages of the justice system.
